SOMEWHERE NEAR IN BETWEEN

Bright as gold, sick as green
I defy my best intentions
Somewhere near in between
Is my latest motivation

Nervously I try to reason
Why I've fallen in this rut,
Lack of balance, drive, obsession,
Passion, purpose - was abrupt 

Dry and arid, closed and empty
Output came to screeching halt
Selling out to job and function
I'm to blame, it was my fault
