There's goodness in sadness
A living emotion
It serves to remind us
What is most important

Suppressing one's heartache
Can lead to depression
There's goodness in sadness
But not in seclusion

There's goodness in sadness
It sharpens one's memory
It can improve judgement
And give one incentive

Avoiding the torment
Prevents one from healing
There's goodness in sadness
But not in denial
